 1. Special Program for Young Scientists
The “GIF Young Scientists’ Program” aims to encourage young scientists and help them establish first contacts with potential counterparts in Israel or Germany. The program will give these scientists an opportunity to present themselves and their research activities in the other country. Applicants may request up to EURO 40,000 for the one-year program.
The program is intended for scientists up to the age of 40 (born after 1.1.72) during the first seven years after receiving their Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree. They must be recognized staff members of a G.I.F.-eligible institution with legal status. The grant is not intended to supplement or be combined with a postdoctoral fellowship from another source. It is suitable for scientists on an academic tenure track, for M.D.s also during their internship period.
Proposals are accepted once a year, in all G.I.F.-supported research areas (no alternating cycles!).
Applicants who have previously submitted to the regular G.I.F. program will not be accepted.
Unsuccessful applicants shall be permitted one more try the following year, if the proposal was excellent, but could not be funded due to budget constraints, and if the applicant is still within the limits of age and seniority.

2. Interdisciplinary proposals will also be subject to the 4-year submission cycle. This means that resubmission of a R3 graded interdisciplinary proposal will only be possible in the cycle in which it was originally submitted.
